A high calibre Arabic speaking/writing COO is required with a retail banking or financial services background to join an Islamic Consumer Finance organisation, established to serve one of the Gulf’s most attractive Islamic finance markets. Our client company has the shareholding of the major banks and the most influential senior political figures in the country. The COO will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day activities and success of the company, including the development of processes and procedures and operating methodology that will ensure success for the company. Vertical and horizontal growth potential is considerable both within Qatar and beyond. Your responsibilities will include developing the right products, pricing, internal operations (including sales, processing, servicing and funding through the capital markets), Human Resources, Information Technology, increasing the market profile, and ensuring the right back office controls and systems are in place to enable the development of a secure and profitable business which meets the needs of customers. You will work closely with the CEO, possibly deputising in his absence, and must have the gravitas, experience and maturity to operate at this level and handle the many challenges that exist. Candidate Profile sought Ideally candidates will be from a retail banking or consumer finance background (both from a primary and secondary market perspective), togther with a strong Information Technology background and a degree level of education in finance or accounting and membership of a relevant professional body. Executive level experience of a start-up situation within an emerging market, ideally involving Islamic finance would be very beneficial. The client has asked that candidates have "knowledge of Operations specially in the area of processing transactions of a credit nature, documentation of guarantees, etc". An Arabic speaking, Senior Operations Manager in Retail Banking would be a good fit for this position - provided his experience profile was extensive.
