AXA IM has recently stepped up its commitment to Responsible Investment (RI) by strengthening its dedicated RI team which has the following roles:
Designing and supporting with technical research our specialised range of RI funds which allow investors to obtain exposure to equity and bond markets suited to their requirements, while respecting the clear environmental, social and governance standards.
Encouraging traditional portfolio analysts and managers to integrate extra-financial analysis
into their core processes (“mainstreaming”).Advising AXA IM and AXA on policy issues related to corporate governance and sustainable development as they relate to investment
Reporting to a Research Manager, your main responsibilities will be to carry out a stand-alone research project, as well as regular ad-hoc research as required.
A quantitative analysis of extra-financial (corporate governance) factors to see if they could be useful lead indicators of financial performance.
Screening and descriptive statistics on extra-financial criteria (Environment Social Governance criteria).
Portfolio ESG assessment: rating a portfolio in terms of an E, S or G issues
Analysis and Reporting on ESG performance of companies to interested clients: quantitative & qualitative.
An assessment of RI investment opportunities and risks relating to emerging markets
Writing first drafts of articles and speeches
Attending companies’ / sectors’ Corporate Responsibility Presentation and reporting on it to the rest of the team
The Research Assistant will be required to work independently to carry out research and prepare summary reports of his/her findings in line with the requirements of the team and its clients.
What sort of profile are we looking for:
Currently undertaking studies in a business or finance related degree programme
For the quant role, you should be comfortable with advanced Statistics and have some knowledge of econometrics
For the qualitative role, some experience of strategic thinking and problem solving tools would be helpful but most important is a orientation to investigating and delivering robust answers
Demonstrate interest in corporate governance or sustainable development
Fluency in English and French
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently
A willingness to assist in basic research support work as and when needed
Knowledge of Excel / VBA and SAS is a plus
